Traverser Latitudes

We are pleased to invite you to the opening of “Traverser Latitudes” (“crossing latitudes”) which will be held on  July 30th at 7pm

This group show brings together  multidisciplinary artworks produced by ten Latin American artists. Living and working in Paris, they share the same Latin American roots : Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.

This project was born out of relfections about multiculturalism and the search for identity within European societies. Indeed, this artistic encounter advocates a deconstruction of clichés on Latin America. By evolving through European cultures, the artists  are subjected to prejudice and stereotypes portrayed in the media.

This exhibtion dismantles these preconceptions by unveilling a rich diversity of artworks.

“Traverser Latitudes” invites the viewer to discover Latin America through three separate themes.

First,  Eder Olguín and  Luis Alejandro Cuellar offer a journey into the heart of the city , through intimacy. The translate in images the fleeting moments of Parisian life. Verónica Manavella extracts from her memories morphed depictions, in a naive manner.

On the other hand, Daniel Galicia, Clara Merino, Vic Oh and Aranxa Ortega explore the concept of identity with introspection inspired from their heritage.

Lastly, artists Paulo P., Roberto O’leary and Paul Navas work differs by their abtraction. They develop questionings evoking nature and life. They translate their daily life, in a language full of shapes and colors.
