The human body and the aesthetics of its curves are central to the work of Christoph Haase. He practices intensively the drawing of live models. Using a universal and known reference – anatomy – to build an abstraction, he tries to capture a movement, a curve or a precise element of the body, to isolate it and incorporate it into a composition. The use of these human curves in rich, colorful compositions anchors his work in reality, while leaving his imagination free to create his own personal aesthetic universe. “I am especially fascinated by the rapid poses and their figuration by a single continuous line. In the studio, I rework from my sketches, and integrate them into larger compositions and detached from the model. “.

In his large compositions, which lie between the figurative and the abstract, Christoph Haase tries to pursue a dreamlike path with complex and symbolically rich ensembles that allow the work to be interpreted.
